Abstract

The canine breeding soundness examination (BSE) is a minimum data base with which to evaluate the reproductive capability of a dog. Interpretation of the results of parameters evaluated remains a challenge to the veterinarian, particularly in the area of infertility. For example, the threshold between fertility and infertility may change for an individual dog when there is an increase in numbers of breedings required over a short period of time depleting the number of normal sperm cells available.
